Meet the Tech Editor
Hello, my name is Christine, the tech editor behind this site, and I would love to tell you a little bit about myself.
My husband, two sons and I live together in Ontario, Canada. We also share our home with our two aging pets, a dog named Annie and a cat named Steve.
For many years I worked as a law clerk at a well known law firm. However, once my first son was born, I decided I wanted to be home with him all the time so I left that career behind.
Before my son was born, my hobby of choice was cross stitch. I would cross stitch whenever I had free time and completed very large projects. Not suprisingly, once I had a little baby to take care of, I found I no longer had the time or the energy to cross stitch.
My desire to create never left me however. As the little dude became more independent, I got back to cross stitch but found that it wasn’t easy to put aside during the constant interruptions. I decided I needed something else that was simpler to pick up and put down at a moment’s notice. And that is when I discovered crochet.
I have always loved yarn and always wished I could do something with all the beautiful fibres out there. When I found crochet videos on YouTube, I was hooked (pun intended).
Watching crochet videos is something I still love to do. That’s how I taught myself to crochet with a little assistance from my mom and have not stopped since.
I crochet as often as I can. I love the freedom of being able to basically create whenever and wherever I am!
Now, I have a second son, years of crocheting behind me and hopefully, years more still ahead of me.
I have amassed lots of experience with the many different types of projects I have completed and I have read hundreds of crochet patterns. I have even created a few of my own. Discovering new things about crochet is still fun for me and I am constantly trying to improve my skills.
I am very aware of the hard work that goes into creating a crochet pattern of any kind. However, I am that person who seems to find all the errors in a pattern and I just have an urge fix them!
Among other reasons, my law clerk background and crochet experience make tech editing the perfect fit for me.
I want to make my own contribution to the crochet industry and am on a mission to help crochet designers take their amazing patterns to the next level by ensuring they are clear, error-free and easy to follow. As a tech editor, I want to help designers succeed. Crochet is basically magic and we can all use a little bit more of that in the world.
Please contact me so we can work together. You can also check out my Instagram page to see what I am working on.
I look forward to meeting you!
